Today, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick chose State Senator Charles Perry to once again Chair the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Rural Affairs. Additionally, Perry was named a member of the Committee on Transportation, the Committee on Health and Human Services and the Committee on Criminal Justice.
“I am honored that the Lt. Governor has re-appointed me to chair a committee that has a large impact on the water and agricultural needs that are important to my district,” said Sen. Charles Perry. “I will continue to focus on ensuring water and food security, as well as protecting private property rights of landowners across my district and state.”
“I also look forward to continuing our work on common-sense reforms that improve outcomes and reduce cost in both the Criminal Justice and Health and Human Services Committees,” continued Perry.
While Senator Perry has previously served on three of his current committees, Lt. Governor Patrick also appointed Perry to serve on the Senate Committee on Transportation for the first time.
“Ensuring safe and reliable infrastructure in both rural and urban parts of the state is essential for a growing state like Texas,” said Perry. “I am excited to work towards conservative solutions for our state’s transportation woes by ending budget diversions and putting in place permanent, sustainable mechanisms to fund our infrastructure.”
