Alexander Eric Pierce, 28, pleaded guilty to arson and and multiple drug possession counts on Monday morning. Pierce was accused of, among other things, setting someone’s 4-door Dodge Charger on fire in early April 2015.
He was sentenced to 15 years, and 10 years, and two years concurrently. That means he really only must serve the 15 years. Pierce also gets more than one year of credit for the time he already spent in jail.
Pierce lived near the victim’s residence in the 3800 block of 35th Street.
Court records said, “A dispute [began] between the victim and Mr. Pierce when the victim allegedly refused to drive with Mr. Pierce to Colorado to pick up a large quantity of marijuana.”
Court records said Pierce set the victim’s car on fire after the dispute.
The office of Lubbock Fire Marshal searched Pierce’s home with a search warrant. Investigators found marijuana and more than $26,000 cash. A judge in May of 2015 ruled that police and prosecutors could permanently seize the money.
The ruling said, “The $26,138.00 is forfeited to the State of Texas to be distributed in accordance with the inter-local agreement between the Lubbock County District Attorney and the Lubbock Police Department.”
