Pokémon GO has taken the Hub City by storm after its app was released a week ago. Fans are heading out the door to go around the community to catch all the pocket monsters.

Samuel Darwactor, the Founder of  the Facebook group Pokémon Go for Lubbock, said Nitendo hit gold with this game.

“The big thing about Pokémon and Nintendo, they want people to play together, they don’t want competitive games. They want community and togetherness and this game is the epitome of that. It’s the epitome of making new friends,” Darwactor said.

He also said Pokémon Go gets people outside and interacting with each other. The downside of playing is it can be dangerous for players walking around on the South Plains.

“Don’t play and drive. Use the buddy system. Ask yourself, ‘if that Pokémon was not down that road would I go down there?’ if the answer is no, do not go down there,” Darwactor said.

Beth Macphie, a Pokémoner, said it can take over your life.

“People don’t really pay attention as much when they’re on their phone wondering around with Pokemon. So, you need to pay attention to what it tells you right when you load the app, pay attention to your surroundings so I think that can be an issue there,” Macphie said.

But there is still one Pokémon that is harder to catch then all the rest.

“Pikachu, but I found one. They’re at the mall,” Darwactor said.
