At approximately 2:40 a.m. this morning, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 34th Street for a vehicle with a license plate light that was out. As the officer exited the patrol car, the driver of the vehicle placed the car in drive and began to drive away.
A pursuit was initiated, and the suspect continued to evade officers. After a short while, the suspect pulled into the Boston Creek Apartments parking lot where he struck a chain link fence.
The male suspect then exited his vehicle and ran from officers. During the foot chase, the suspect gave up and was taken into custody without further incident.
The male was identified as 26-year-old Skylar Ussery. A female passenger, 27-year-old Taylor Lopez, was also arrested.
During the incident, the owner of the vehicle called police to report the vehicle stolen.
Ussery’s charges include evading arrest with a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding felony warrant.
Lopez was arrested for 5 outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
