Lubbock Police and other first responders were called to the 2700 block of Boston Avenue about 3:45 pm Wednesday.
Police said an uncle and a nephew had an argument, and one of the men pulled out a gun and shot. The other then struggled to get the gun and shot back.
Both men suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police. Police said a murder charge is possible if one of them dies. Police put up crime tape and the two men were taken by two different ambulances.
“It’s unclear right now who produced the handgun,” said Lieutenant Ray Mendoza.
“There was only two shots fired that we’re aware of,” Mendoza said. “We don’t know who fired the first shot.”
One man was shot in the chest and the other was shot in the abdomen.
“We think it was over property that was of sentimental value. But that’s all we have at this time,” Mendoza said.
