EMS and Lubbock Police responded to the report of someone who had been shot just before 1:00 pm.  The gunshot victim came from another location to the Breakfast House at 19th and University to ask for help.

A waitress said a man had been shot in the stomach and the shot went out through his back.  Police confirmed that a gunshot victim did show up at the restaurant. 

The waitress said people tried to help calm him down until EMS could arrive.  The victim’s current condition is not known.

Just before the victim came to the restaurant, police were called to the report of shots fired in the 2300 block of 26th Street.  Police were not 100 percent certain, but they believed initially that the two were related.

Lubbock Police issued the following statement Friday afternoon:

Today, July 3, 2015 at approximately 12:50 p.m., patrol responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the Breakfast House, located at 2422 19th Street. The victim was transported to UMC with life threatening injuries. Detectives were called to the scene and are investigating.

Prior to this call, patrol had responded to a disturbance in the 2300 block of 26th Street with possible shots fired. No victim was located and detectives are looking into whether there is a connection to the victim located at the Breakfast House.
