The Lubbock Dive Team was called to get a car out a playa lake near 82nd Street and Orlando Avenue early Tuesday morning. Police said one person was arrested.
The car went into the playa lake, south of 82nd Street, just before 4:00 a.m.
Police said the driver was able to get out of the car but the car was about 50 to 60 feet into the lake. Our crew on the scene confirmed with law enforcement, the driver was arrested on for DWI.
Police issued the following written statement:
Today, July 14, 2015, at approximately 3:51 a.m., patrol responded to a call about a vehicle in the playa lake at 82nd and Orlando Ave. When they arrived, they could see the vehicle, a 2011 Toyota Corolla, in the water and the driver exiting the playa lake. The driver was the only occupant and was not injured.
He was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility and booked in.
