Abilene Police say the driver who struck and killed an Abilene Christian University student while she was biking home from work was intoxicated.
Casey Ellis, 21, was riding her bicycle home from her shift at Cracker Barrel the night before Thanksgiving when she was hit by the driver at the intersection of Judge Ely Blvd. and Ambler Ave.
A press release from the Abilene Police Department says Ellis was turning off Judge Ely onto Ambler when the accident occurred.
The driver was crossing over Ambler Avenue at the intersection while he had a green light, according to the press release.
Ellis was transported to the hospital where she later passed away from the impact of her injuries.
