San Angelo Police, Texas DPS, federal agents with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Marshals were involved in a deadly shooting Thursday afternoon.
Officers were trying to arrest a suspect in the parking lot of Schlotzsky’s in the 300 block of West Harris Avenue.
“The suspect’s identity is not being released at this time,” police said. “The suspect was wanted for Felony Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and a suspect in another Aggravated Assault that had occurred in recent days.”
“During the encounter the suspect brandished a handgun and multiple shots were fired,” police said. The suspect died at the scene.
A police statement did not state if the suspect fired at officers but officers did fire at the suspect.
Texas Rangers will investigate.
