Police Investigate Weekend Shooting, Teenage Girl Injured

Lubbock Police were called to the scene of a shooting with non-life-threatening injuries Friday night in the 2400 block of East 6th Street. Violet Sertuche, 17, was shot in the buttocks and according to a police report, police identified a potential suspect.

“[The suspect] was released pending the filing of charges,” the police report said.

According to the police report a witness heard the sound of gunshots and discovered that Sertuche had been shot. A front porch gate and a glass door were also damaged.

The police report did not say if this was an accidental shooting or part of a disturbance. So, EverythingLubbock.com asked police for more information.

Police said a resident thought someone was breaking into his car, so he came out of his residence and fired more than one shot. As of Monday morning no charges were filed, and police said no additional information could be released.
