Last night, Friday, September 23, 2016 at approximately 11:35 p.m., patrol officers responded to report of an attempted robbery with shots fired in the 1800 block of E. 28th Street. The victims pulled into their driveway when the suspect approached the driver and pointed a handgun at him. The suspect ordered the driver out of the vehicle and demanded his cash. As the suspect was focused on the driver, the female passenger retrieved a handgun from the car and handed it to the driver. The driver fired several rounds at the suspect striking him once in the leg. The suspect fled the scene but was located by responding officers at the corner of E. 28th Street and Martin Luther King Blvd.
The suspect was transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries and was admitted for his injuries. The victims, Kedrick Trotty and Christy Trotty were not injured.
Officers worked with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office to book the suspect. The suspect was released to the custody of Lubbock County Deputies and will be transported to their facility upon his release from the hospital.
