Lubbock Police responded to the report of a disturbance and shots fired 12: 45 a.m. Monday in the 2700 block of 36th Street. 

Police found a man had been shot in the abdomen, and he was taken to University Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries. 

On Monday afternoon, police released the name of the shooting victim as Milton Charles Gardner Jr., 17.  Police also said Gardner was not cooperating. 

Earlier in the day a police spokesman said Gardner was apparently knocking on doors after he was shot – trying to get help.
