Police: One Person Seriously Injured After Overnight Rollover

One person is in serious condition this morning after an overnight single car accident at the intersection of Avenue Q and Clovis Road.

The accident happened around 11:30 Monday evening.  As of early Tuesday afternoon, the driver, Amanda Linda Castro, 30, was in critical condition at University Medical Center. 


Lubbock Police tell us the car flipped multiple times. One person was transported by EMS to UMC where they are in serious condition. A two year old child was also in the car but was not injured.

LPD’s Accident Investigation team is looking into what caused the accident.

Police on Tuesday morning issued the following statement:

On Monday, July 13, 2015 at approximately 11:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to crash with serious injuries in the 300 block of North Ave Q. A 1999 Chevy Tahoe had been traveling northbound on Ave Q. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the center concrete barrier and then rolled. The driver was ejected and was transported to UMC with serious injuries. There was a two year old male passenger in the vehicle who received minor injuries.

The LPD Accident Investigation Team was called out to investigate.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved.
