A Pecos coach faces drug charges after turning himself in to police on Thursday, according to Pecos police chief Clay McKinney.

Doug Lane, 39, was booked on cocaine possession charges at the Pecos municipal criminal justice center.

Officials say the arrest stems from a tip that officers received, indicating that Lane had a controlled substance. Officers pulled Lane for a traffic stop but did not find any drugs.

Police later learned that Lane had “discarded” cocaine during the traffic stop and later found the drugs at the site of the traffic stop.

Authorities obtained a warrant for his arrest, and he Lane turned himself in on Thursday.

Officials confirm Lane is a P.E. coach/teacher at Bessie Haynes Elementary in Pecos
