Police released names on Tuesday morning concerning a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred Saturday night.
The official police statement is as follows:
On Saturday, December 10th at approximately 6:25 p.m., 64-year-old Robert Black was leaving the Stratford Place Apartments and attempted to cross 4th Street at Wayne Avenue. The area where he was attempting to cross was not a marked cross walk.
As he walked north, he was struck by a SUV traveling east in the right hand lane. The driver, 19-year-old Claire Shaver, called 911 and remained on the scene. Black was taken to UMC where he was pronounced deceased. The driver was questioned and no charges have been filed at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
Black’s next of kin has been notified.
