Lubbock Police on Tuesday released new information concerning a shooting on the evening of April 25 in the 4600 block of 71st Street.
Police said, “A 19-year-old male was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and has since been released from the hospital.”
“After questioning all individuals involved including the victim, Lubbock Police Department investigators determined the shooting was accidental,” police said.
A police report said the victim was Tanner Kade Lundquist.
The police report said Lunquist and a few others were in an apartment. The person with the gun stood up to get off the living room couch, and the gun went off. The police report did not go into specifics of how that happened.
As soon as the gun was fired, the person with the gun said he unloaded it. Police found bullets on the floor consistent with a gun being unloaded.
Detectives were called to the scene to investigate. The police report did not list anyone except Lundquist by name.
