Police Report Reveals New Details in Friday Pursuit

The police report filed after a Lubbock man led police officers on a foot pursuit Friday afternoon revealed new details into the investigation.

Police were called to the Carriage House Inn on Slaton Road Friday afternoon to investigate a broken window on the property.

The suspect, Paublo Reyes, 22, had returned to the scene when someone called for help.

When officers arrived, Reyes fled on foot.

Police said the chase lasted about an hour and covered three-quarters of a mile.

According to the police report, Reyes dropped a backpack near where he was arrested, which contained small baggies full of unknown substances.

“The small blue and clear baggies had white residue inside of them. (Not enough to test) However one of the small clear baggies with a faded green design on it had an unknown white substance inside of it with small torn up cotton balls inside,” an officer wrote in the report.

As Reyes was being booked into jail, an officer discovered pills in his pocket.

“While on scene at the Detention Center, [an officer] searched [Reyes] and located 5 pills,” the report said. “[Reyes] had entered the correction facility with prohibited contraband inside of his pants pockets.”

One of the responding officers searched Reyes while at the Lubbock County Detention Center.

“The pills and white substance in the clear baggie with green print on it was taken to DPS lab for further information,” the report said.

Reyes was booked into jail on an outstanding warrant, Evading Arrest, and drug charges.
