Police late Friday afternoon issued the following statement:
At approximately 1:17 p.m. this afternoon, a juvenile flagged down an officer in the area of East 34th Street and Juniper. The juvenile told the officer she had been held in an abandoned apartment complex nearby. At the time, the juvenile told police there could be more victims.
Immediately, more than 30 Lubbock Police Officers, SWAT members and Detectives arrived on scene and began searching every single building and room at the abandoned Coronado Village Apartments where the victim said she was held.
After thoroughly searching each room and building multiple times, the abandon complex was cleared. At this point in the investigation, there is no indication of additional victims.
The juvenile was taken to UMC to be treated, and family members were notified. After talking with detectives, the juvenile told police she was abducted yesterday afternoon in the area of 39th Street and Avenue D. This juvenile was not reported missing to police.
She described the suspect as a black male, 40 to 50 years old with acne and a large build. He was also wearing a white bandana under a baseball cap. The suspect was possibly driving a red passenger car.
