Lubbock Police said the pedestrian struck in Friday’s hit and run was pronounced deceased at the hospital early Monday morning.  Police publicly identified the pedestrian as Alejandro Hernandez, 24.

“We still do not have a full vehicle description,” police said Monday afternoon. “But our investigator believes the vehicle involved in Friday’s fatal hit and run is possibly a Dodge Durango or Dodge Dakota.”

Police also said, “The vehicle will have major damage to the driver’s side mirror. There will also be damage to the driver’s side headlamp. The color is unknown.”

Police said officers were called out Friday night at 10:30 to the 400 block of Slide Road.  Police now believe the collision was in the 500 block.

“[A] pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and was lying on the road,” police initially said. “The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid.”
