Jordan Hoffman was on his was to work when he found his car was stolen. At the time, he said it was parked at his gated apartment complex.
Hoffman said he owned the car for about five years. He described its as a 1995 F-150, white, with a red strip at the bottom.
“The day that it was stolen I tried to look at the cameras and everything and I wasn’t able to,” Hoffman said. “But, I went driving around in one of my friends trucks and tried to search all the neighborhoods to see if I could see it. But whenever it turned up yesterday [Tuesday] they had painted the bottom of it and painted the tailgate and tires and rims and everything so it looks completely different than what I was looking for.”
A month after Hoffman reported the theft, police said they found his vehicle.
“I got a call from the police department (Tuesday morning) and they said that they had impounded it at Lubbock Wrecker,” Hoffman said. “So I called Lubbock Wrecker to make sure I could go down there and see it and I did.”
The stolen vehicle was involved in a hit and run accident, according to LPD. Hoffman said it’s totaled.
“I was heartbroken, it sucked,” Hoffman said. “I mean I didn’t really expect to find it really because it’s an older truck. I expected it’d be all parted off, but to see it like completely totaled was not fun.”
Police told Hoffman the suspect hung around the accident and then casually walked away. Police were still looking for the suspect Wednesday evening.
