Around 8p.m. last night [Wednesday night], Lubbock Police officers responded to a call about a suspicious man who approached a 10-year-old girl as she walked home near 69th Street and Grover Avenue.

The child told her mother a man pulled up next to her in a truck and asked if she had seen his dog. When the child responded “No”, she says the man continued to ask her a series of personal questions about her age, her address, phone number and how much she knew about boys.

The child says she answered his questions, but the man drove off when she began talking to her father on a cell phone.

The child told investigators the man had a medium complexion and grey hair. He was driving a grey truck pulling a white, enclosed trailer.

Because of the nature of the questions, the Lubbock Police Department would like to make parents aware of this situation. Please use caution when letting young children walk alone, and discuss what to do if a stranger approaches them.

This is especially important with upcoming Halloween activities. Please have an adult supervising young children as they trick-or-treat, and make sure they know how to call for help if they get lost or separated from their group.

If you know anything about this case or see anything suspicious in your neighborhood, please contact the police.
