Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that Lily Gurrola, age 34, of Portales; was found guilty [Wednesday] by a Roosevelt County jury of two counts of Child Abuse, third degree felonies.

In January of 2016, a parent contacted Portales Police about her teenaged son having been tazed by another adult.   After further investigation, it was discovered that Gurrola had used a stun gun or “Tazer”, on her teenaged daughter and her boyfriend.  Gurrola was arrested a few days later on the child abuse charges.

The Honorable Donna J. Mowrer presided over the trial today and postponed sentencing so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared by the Adult Probation Office.  Gurrola was taken into custody today and could face up to 6 years in prison.

Assistant District Attorney, Quentin Ray, prosecuted the case for the State of New Mexico.  Assistant Public Defender, Evan Arendell, of represented Gurrola.
