On Thursday, the Dream Center announced a plan to open New Legacy, a program exclusively for women who desire a positive change in their lives. The 15-month, three-phase program will offer life skills training in multiple areas to provide a way for women to lead a healthy, independent and productive life.

Jackie White, a Pastor at Church on the Rock, said this isn’t to give a hand out but a hand up to these woman.

“The reason the Dream Center began is because we felt like we needed to bring light into areas where there had only been darkness. We felt like the Dream Center would always be a place where people could begin to dream and hope for their future again,” White said.

The New Legacy home for women will have 24 beds that are safe, free-of-charge, non-government funded, and include voluntary discipleship program. The program will be available to ages 21 and up from all socio-economic backgrounds.

Shanna Hargrave, the Executive Director, said the woman will be able to start all over.

“It will change their children and their children’s children’s lives. So the generations that have maybe been stuck in the poverty mentality for many years will be changed,” Hargrave said.

Halo Architects will have the finished touches to the home by August. Dream Center was granted 1.5 million dollars last August from the J.T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation to build the home.
