The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is ready to begin a $297,000 project next week to replace large guide signs along I-27 in Swisher County. Project contractor Vaca Underground Utilities, Inc., of Houston, will begin work on March 27.
“Motorists can expect various I-27 shoulder, frontage road and short-term exit closures,” said Jeremy Dearing, P.E., TxDOT Lubbock operations engineer. “Impacts to mainlane traffic will be very minimal, but motorists should stay alert and minimize distractions when entering the work zone for their safety and the safety of the workers.”
In addition to replacing the guide signs, work crews will also replace sign posts and drill shafts. The project is anticipated to wrap-up mid-August 2017. Work will take place weather permitting.
