The City of Lubbock on Monday said a homeowner in the upscale Lakeridge Neighborhood withdrew her request for a sober house at 96th Street and Vicksburg Avenue.
A letter was sent to nearby residents about a month ago from the City of Lubbock saying a neighbor wanted to open a home for 10 women. The request needed approval by the city’s zoning board.
Residents would have the chance to support or oppose the zoning change at meeting this week. Many neighbors have been strongly against the idea, posting signs in their front yards, writing letters to neighbors posting on the NextDoor app.
The zoning department confirmed that the case has been withdrawn and neighbors do not need to attend the meeting Thursday.
