The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) anticipates closing several roadways in Lubbock County next week to allow the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company (BNSF) to safely perform repair work on the railroad crossings.
The repair work includes replacing the timber ties under the track, as well as replacing the planks at each crossing, and is anticipated to begin Monday, Feb. 8 and continue through Friday, Feb. 12.
All roadways are adjacent to US 84 and anticipated to be closed to traffic for two days. Motorists will be detoured around the work area.
The BNSF work schedule is:
- FM 179, north of Shallowater — Monday Feb. 8 and Tuesday Feb. 9
- 12TH Street in Shallowater — Monday Feb. 8 and Tuesday Feb. 9
- 8TH Street in Shallowater — Tuesday Feb. 9 and Wednesday Feb. 10
- Ave L in Shallowater — Tuesday Feb. 9 and Wednesday Feb. 10
- Ave Q in Shallowater — Tuesday Feb. 9 and Wednesday Feb. 10
- FM 2641 — Wednesday Feb. 10 and Thursday Feb. 11
- FM 2528 — Thursday Feb. 11 and Friday Feb. 12
Work and road closures will take place weather permitting.
