On Thursday, the Randall County Sheriff’s Department said Lieutenant Tommy Bushek “began life saving procedures” after hearing shots fired Sunday night in Galveston.

Bushek was attending a conference at a hotel in Galveston when the shots rang out.

Randall County SO said, “A 23 year-old hotel security guard was investigating a suspicious a group of people in a parking lot when one or more persons opened fire on the guard severely injuring him.”

Police in Galveston publicly identified the guard as Philip Mollis.  Police in Galveston said the shooters were three men.

“These people are armed,” police said. “They are dangerous.”

“The suspects involved ran from the area,” RCSO said.  “The security guard was shot at least six times and is in critical but stable condition.”

RCSO said Bushek was in Galveston for training.  He oversees Randall County communications, records, and warrants.
