The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a two vehicle crash on SL-335 that occurred Thursday in Randall County, resulting in the death of one person.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., Jeffrey Carlisle, 39, of Seminole, Texas was driving a 2015 Ford F-350 pickup truck towing a gooseneck horse trailer eastbound on SL-335 approximately three miles southeast of Amarillo. Karen Lester, 72, of Amarillo was driving a 2011 Nissan Murano SUV eastbound on the entrance ramp to SL-335 east of Osage. Lester attempted to make an illegal U-turn in the path of the Ford pickup truck causing the collision. The Ford crashed into the driver side of the Murano, resulting in the death of Lester.
Lester was pronounced dead on scene by Randall County Justice of the Peace, Judge Bingham.
Lester and Carlisle were both wearing seat belts.
Carlisle was not injured.
The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
