A Ranger High School coach submitted a letter of resignation the morning after he was arrested during an online prostitution sting in McClennan County.

Coach Shane Tuck was charged with prostitution Tuesday night, according to the Waco Tribune. Police say Tuck was operating a Ranger ISD work vehicle when he attempted to meet up with the detective.

Ranger ISD Superintendent Mike Thompson was made aware of Tuck’s arrest 5:00 p.m. It took him around an hour to confirm the facts with the Sheriff’s Department. Once the facts were confirmed, Tuck was placed on administrative leave. Thompson reports Tuck submitted his letter of resignation the next morning.

He served as the head baseball and assistant football coach at Ranger ISD. Another teacher who has experience coaching may take Tuck’s place – a search for his replacement is underway.

Tuck was among 46 suspects accused of prostitution and human trafficking related crimes were arrested in the bust. The month-long investigation targeted prostitutes, pimps and those seeking solicitation. Police say they are still looking for others.

Detectives made contact with the suspects by posing as underage and adult prostitutes, according to McClennan County Sheriff, Parnel McNamara. He says several of the arrested were specifically seeking sexual encounters with minors.

The sting resulted in 31 felony and 48 misdemeanor charges in total.

“We are not going to stop, they need to understand that message,” Sheriff McNamara said.
