Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on March 14, 2017, a Curry County jury found Logan Reavis, age 28, of Clovis, guilty of Criminal Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree.
The charges stem from November 2014, when the victim and her husband hosted a party at their home in Clovis. The victim went to bed and was awakened by Reavis sexually assaulting her in her bedroom. The victim testified about the mental anguish she has suffered since the attack. The jury also heard from a State Crime Lab DNA analyst; a sexual assault nurse examiner and the law enforcement officers who investigated the crime. The defendant also testified and claimed the sex was consensual.
The jury deliberated for two hours before returning the guilty verdict. The Honorable Fred Van Soelen presided over the trial and deferred sentencing to a later date. Reavis faces up to 9 years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Chief Deputy District Attorney, Brian Stover, prosecuted the case for the State of New Mexico. Thomas Harden, criminal defense attorney, represented Reavis.
