Texas Tech extended its win streak to nine straight with Tuesday’s 8-4 win over Texas Southern but not before more than two hours of weather delays.

The Red Raiders struck first in the first inning on Tanner Gardner’s RBI double down the right field line that scored Ryan Long, who extended his hit streak to nine straight games.

Hunter Hargrove’s double in the third inning scored Josh Jung but then the rain came.

The game finally resumed just before 10 p.m. and so did the scoring for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech scores four runs in the 5th inning including a tape-measure home run off the top of the score board by freshman John McMillon.

In the 6th inning, Gardner had to be helped off the field after injuring his leg sliding into first base.

The Red Raiders wrap up the two-game series with Texas Southern at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rip Griffin Park.
