Reeves County Traffic Accident Kills Two and Injures Two Monday Evening

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a Reeves County traffic accident late Monday Evening.

According to the DPS, the accident occurred on U.S. Highway 285, approximately 6.3 miles north of Pecos, at 11:48 p.m.

Authorities say a Ford F-150 was traveling north and a GMC Sierra was traveling south on U.S. Highway 285. The F-150 drove into the south bound late of traffic behind another vehicle. As the other vehicle drove back into the north bound lane, the 
F-150 and the Sierra took evasive action off the of the roadway and into the west side ditch. Both vehicles then collided in the ditch.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was killed in the accident and has been identified as Javier Mayagoitia, 24, of El Paso. A passenger in the vehicle was also killed in the accident and has been identified as Javier Garcia Jr., 24, of El Paso.

There were two other occupants into the GMC Sierra who were injured. Osman Oziel Martinez, 18, of El Paso, was taken to University Medical Hospital in El Paso in serious condition. Hugo Alejandro Martinez, 23, of El Paso, was taken to Reeves Memorial Hospital  in stable condition. 

The driver of the Ford F-150, identified as John Gregg Mueller, 36, of Burleson, refused medical treatment.
