The Texas Tech Baseball team is hosting its first regional tournament in 17 years. South Plains businesses are preparing for a busy weekend full of baseball fans.
Lisa West, the Owner of Spanky’s, said they started preparing quite a bit earlier than usual.
“Everyone is going to feel the impact because there’s so many people, a big influx of people from all over, so I think restaurants and retail and everybody will be busy this weekend,” West said.
Retail stores have increased staff for the weekend of the regional tournament. Katie Dickey, the lead buyer at Red Raider Outfitter, said they were expecting a lot of people this weekend as well.
“We have all of our designs and our merchandise ready to go and then as soon as we know that it is a go and that we’ve won and make it to the next level then we put everything in to motion,” Dickey said.
The Red Raiders defeated Fairfield 12 to 1 in Game 1 of the Lubbock NCAA regional.
