Lubbock’s Kmart store is among a list of 64 stores slated to close by the end of the year, according to a report on BusinessInsider.com Monday.
The website stated Sears Holdings Corporation informed store employees of the closures Friday.
All closing stores will begin liquidation sales on September 22 and are slated to close by mid-December, the website also stated.
EverythingLubbock.com reached out to the local Kmart store here in Lubbock early Monday afternoon. A store manager told our staff they have not been informed the local store is closing.
There is currently no notification of the closure listed on the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) network with the Texas Workforce Commission as of Monday afternoon.
The Abilene Kmart store is also listed as a closing store. The Hobbs, New Mexico location was not on the list.
