Presidential Candidates are busy making their final rounds in Texas in the last days before super Tuesday, but one location that wasn’t on anyones campaign trail was the Hub City.

“I think they’re being shortchanged,” voter and Lubbock resident Bob Sparks said.  “Lubbock never gets the respect of Dallas or Ft. Worth. Yes, we’re not near as big, but if you count the whole area that we represent, there’s a lot of voters up here that aren’t being offered what the other big cities are.”

Carl Tepper, the Chairman of the Lubbock County Republican Party, said while some candidates have come in the past, like during the 2008 Election, he understands why Lubbock is overshadowed.

“One in every four Republican primary votes is out of the Houston area,” Tepper said.  “We are having a lot of trouble garnering attention from the major presidential candidates.”

Tepper said venues pose an issue.  Texas Tech doesn’t allow political rallies and booking a city venue can get complicated.

Tepper also blamed Super Tuesday.

“These guys are really spread thin and when you talk about 13 states including the one behemoth Texas they are really going to have to pin point where they really want to go,” Tepper said

Both Tepper and Sparks agreed that they hope Lubbock gets a bigger on the political radar.
