Ron Betenbough along with the Board of Directors and Advisory Committee of Lubbock Lemonade Day proudly announced the passing of the torch for the role of Lemonade Day City Champion to United Supermarkets CEO, Robert Taylor.

A Lubbock native, Robert graduated from Monterey High School in 1966 and from Texas Tech University in 1971 with a BA degree in Administrative Management.

Following his graduation from Texas Tech, he joined his father in the family business, R.C. Taylor Wholesale, and was named vice president.

In July 2007, Robert sold the business to one of his largest customers, United Supermarkets, and joined United’s leadership team as Vice President of Logistics. In February 2010, Taylor was offered and proudly accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of United Supermarkets.

Robert has been very active in Lubbock’s community affairs serving on multiple Boards and volunteering in several vital capacities.

“When the time came for me to pass the torch of this great organization to another ‘Promoter in Chief’ Robert Taylor was the natural choice,” noted former City Champion Ron Betenbough. “Robert is a proven businessman who passionately cares not only about this community but also about teaching the next generation how to become successful in business and in life. Lemonade Day couldn’t be in better hands.”

“United has supported Lubbock Lemonade Day from the start, hosting the first ribbon cutting kickoff event in 2012, offering locations for countless young entrepreneurs at our stores and underwriting the event since 2013,” added incoming City Champion Robert Taylor. “We believe in what this real life business experience teaches area youth and are proud to step up into this new role. It was humbling for my friend Ron Betenbough to consider me and the team at United worthy of the challenge and we are honored to fill the role of City Champion for this amazing event.”
