The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to perform routine road maintenance this week on SH 214, from US 82/380 in the City of Plains to the Gaines County Line. Maintenance to SH 214 through Denver City will be included in the scheduled work.
Work is schedule to begin Monday, April 3 and continue through Friday, April 7. The scrub seal operations will require various daytime lane closures. Drivers should anticipate slow moving traffic and delays.
Scrub sealing operations consist of applying a layer of asphalt or emulsion to the roadway, followed by sand or a small aggregate on top to fill in cracks on the roadway’s surface. The operation is a cost-effective way to prevent water from entering the roadbed and extending the life of the roadway.
Motorists are advised to pay attention and slow down as they enter the work area for their safety and the safety of the workers. Work will take place weather permitting.
