Seagraves Patrol Officers Sonya Flores and Will Wright made a routine traffic stop for speeding in the 1000 block of US 385 at 1:25 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle turned right on Main Street and stopped in the 100 block of Main.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Donald Hubbard, 35, of Lubbock, Texas. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Patsy Tidwell, 29 of Lubbock, Texas. After speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, officers became suspicious that there was more than a traffic violation involved, based on indicators they were getting from the stop.

When officers asked if they could search the vehicle, they were denied. Officers then called Chief McAuley and K-9 Niki out. K-9 Niki was deployed and gave a positive alert in the drivers side door area of the vehicle. Officers then had probable cause to search the vehicle where officers recovered methamphetamine in an aggregate weight of just over 45 grams. Some of the methamphetamine was packaged in smaller individual packages.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. A felony of the 1st degree.
