The Rural Life Mass is a celebration of agriculture as well as a time to celebrate and thank God for rural life. “It is an opportunity to pray for a bountiful harvest and a just price for the crops and lifestock,” said Doug Hlavaty, Rural Life Ministry Director. “Everyone is invited to attend to pray for our farmers and ranchers and their families.”
Since the inception of the rural life ministry in the Lubbock Diocese, its centerpiece has been a yearly Mass and dinner celebration on or near the May 15 Feast of Saint Isidore and his wife, Santa Maria de la Cabeza, patrons of rural life and agriculture.
In case of inclement weather, celebration will be moved to Sacred Heart Church, 2801 N. Columbia, Plainview.
