Salvation Army Opens its Doors to Families Evicted from Villa Town Motel

Guests kicked out of the Villa Town motel Monday night were left having to find a place to stay following the court order that placed a temporary restraining order on the motel.

The guests and even staff received a notice that they had to begin leaving the property, but many people living there full time didn’t have anywhere else to go.

In an effort to help those who now have to relocate, local agencies like the Salvation Army say they’re opening their doors to temporarily lodge those left without a place to stay until they can get back on their feet.

“When we heard you know it was an unfortunate event but we’re ready, we’re available to take on anyone who needs our assistance,” said Erica Hitt, director of social services for the Salvation Army. “We’re also working with other agencies to make sure it’s the time to make sure that everyone is taken care of.”

Hitt says it’s just a matter of coming in to the center and filling out an application to get things started.

If you know someone who may need to contact the Salvation Army, they can be reached at (806) 765-9434, and they are located at 1614 Avenue J.
