The San Angelo Police Department reported Friday evening the bodies of a man and child had been pulled from the water at the Lake Nasworthy Spillway.
Authorities were dispatched to the 1800 block of Beatty Road after the San Angelo Public Safety Communications received a call about a possible body in the water around 6:15 p.m.
An officer with the San Angelo Police Department’s Lake Patrol responded and located two bodies in the water. With the assistance of the San Angelo Fire Department, the bodies were recovered.
A Justice of the Peace at the scene pronounced both victims dead.
The victims have been identified as a 61-year-old man and 5-year-old male, according to San Angelo Police. Both bodies will be sent for an autopsy.
Although the deceased have been identified and next of kin were notified, the names of the victims are being withheld at this time.
Police said there are no signs of foul play at the scene and the incident appears to be accidental.
