Police continue to search for the suspect wanted in the burglary at Caprock Pharmacy on April 10.

The suspect broke through the front window of the pharmacy, 3007 50th street. Once inside, the suspect stole the cash register and its contents. Pharmacy employees say that despite the damage done to the front of the building, they are thankful that no drugs were stolen and that the suspect was only able to walk away with five dollars.

“It’s just kind of crazy,” said Toby Pharr, a technician at the pharmacy who says he’s never experienced anything like this. “He broke into the window right next to the door. I would think it was for the drugs, but he didn’t take any.”

According to the police report, at approximately 8:55 a.m.., on April 10. Police were dispatched to the pharmacy’s location after a passerby contacted police and reported that the front glass of the building had been shattered.

The suspect is described as a heavy set black or Hispanic male, 5’10”, 240 lbs., wearing a dark blue ball cap, rimmed glasses, white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and a blue bandana over his face.

“50th street has a lot of vehicular traffic so you know the person who did this was pretty brazen. He obviously knew when the least amount of traffic was going by and took advantage of it,” said Lt. Ray Mendoza, the Public Information Officer for Lubbock Police.

At this moment, police say there is no evidence to suggest that the suspect was working with anyone else or that the burglary is tied to any other recent crime. However, they do say that thanks to a generous amount of tips shared over the phone with police and to the Lubbock Police Department’s Facebook page, they do believe they are getting closer to narrowing down who the suspect may be.

“We started receiving numerous tips, so now we just need to get the right person identified,” said Lt. Mendoza.

As for the pharmacy, which had already been equipped with surveillance cameras and a security system, they say that they have already added more security features to the store. They are hopeful they well be better prepared should there ever be a next time.

‘We’re hoping it doesn’t happen, but we got more security stuff, so if this does happen again, they’ll get real quick on it and police will get here as soon as they break in.”
