Seymour ISD Teacher Under Investigation

The Chief of Police in Seymour has confirmed a criminal investigation is underway concerning a teacher at Seymour ISD.

Chief Mike Griffin says it appears to involve the one employee and one possible victim.

He says school administrators made a report to the police department and the department shared it with the DA’s Office, and they contacted Texas Rangers.

Chief Griffin also stated the alleged offense is believed to have occurred in the 2014-2015 school year.

They say the next step is for the police department to conduct interviews with potential witnesses, the victim, and the employee.

He adds the teacher in question is not in police custody at this time, and no formal criminal charges have been filed.

Here is an official statement from the school district:

“The District received a report which included allegations against a Seymour ISD teacher. That matter is currently under investigation by the District. At this time the employee is not on campus and appropriate action has been taken as a result of the investigation conducted thus far, including a report made to the appropriate authorities. Based on any additional investigation, further action may be taken as deemed appropriate. Please understand that the District’s ability to share additional information is limited due to the ongoing investigation and the confidentiality of the concerns being addressed.”
