A 22-year-old Seymour man is behind bars in the Wichita County Jail on a charge of trying to hire someone to kill his ex-girlfriend and a person she was involved with.
Justin Lee Cook was arrested by a Texas Ranger and DPS officers in Wichita County Friday afternoon on a warrant issued in Baylor County for criminal solicitation of murder for remuneration. His bond is set at $250-thousand dollars. The arrest came after an investigation by the Baylor County Sheriff’s Office, Seymour Police and Texas Rangers.
Officials say they learned of the plot and obtained electronic and video evidence against Cook, which includes surveillance of Cook obtaining the money to pay for the killings.
Baylor County Sheriff Bob Elliott says one of his deputies and police officers worked together on this case.
He said the case came together in a relatively short time period and the arrest was made once the surveillance video was obtained
