Shallowater High School has been recognized by Newsweek Magazine as one of the top 500 schools in the nation for 2016. Newsweek’s “Beating the Odds” ranking of the top 500 schools has ranked Shallowater High School as number 422.

Newsweek says schools that make the “Beating the Odds” ranking were evaluated through a college readiness index along with enrollment rates and graduation rates. Shallowater High School’s ranking was achieved with a 67.3% college ready number, a 100% graduation rate, and a 93.9% college bound rate while also having a 28.6 low socio economic enrollment.

Shallowater High School Principal, Tom Johnson, states, “We have had many honors in the past, but have never been included in a top 500 listing for the nation’s schools. I would like to congratulate all of the teachers, counselors, and student success advocates that work daily to prepare our students for academic success.”
