Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to East 50th Street and Farm to Market Road 1729 during the noon hour for a report of a shooting.  That location is east of the Lubbock city limits.

A victim was found with injuries that were not life threatening.  Deputies were seen looking for a suspect.

After 3:00 pm, the LSO said shooting suspect, Keith Chaplin, 40, was “in custody at this time.”

Just before 3:45 pm, the LSO provided this statement:

Suspect has sustained an apparent gunshot wound prior to his being taken into custody, as well. It is not clear at this time as to the nature of his injury ,or how he received it.
