Luke Siegel, 9, was injured in a golf cart accident in July 2015 and in January 2016, he returned to Lubbock after spending a few months at a hospital in Fort Worth.
“He’s been pretty agitated, recently, but he’s definitely more comfortable at home, I think,” Luke’s dad, Tim Siegel said.
The Facebook page, Pray for Luke Siegel, has more 20,000 likes. That kind of community support has meant a lot to Tim and his family.
“All the prayers that we’ve gotten, does give me that confidence and that faith that we’re going to pull through and we’re going to get to another level,” Siegel said. “I’m not sure how far we’ll get, but we’re going to get to another level and it’s one thing for me to have faith, but it’s another thing for 23,000 people to send messages and follow our story.”
The next round of ‘Pray for Luke’ shirts will have a portion of the proceeds going to the Morris Safe House, a local animal shelter that has a special place in the Siegel’s hearts.
“That’s where we adopted our little dog named ‘Saint’ after our beloved New Orleans Saints,” Siegel said. “I think he’s really been such a blessing. And I know he was really down when we weren’t around a lot in the fall. And when people come to visit, he’s right next to Luke, he’s right by Luke’s side.”
