According to the Sweetwater Reporter, a skunk tested positive for rabies in Sweetwater.  The skunk was caught within city limits on Friday, and tests were conducted that confirmed the rabies virus.

According to BigCountryHomepage.com, at least six skunks in Scurry County and a few more in Brown County have tested positive for rabies so far in 2016.

No cases of human rabies have been reported in the Big Country of Texas as a result of these skunks, according to BigCountryHomepage.com. 

The City of Lubbock Health Department said no animals tested positive so far for rabies inside the city limits for 2016. However, two animals (skunks) tested positive for rabies in Lubbock County during 2016.
