A post Saturday on the Seminole Police Department Facebook page reported that the Gaines County Sheriff’s Office located a “skimmer” device at a convenience store outside of Seminole earlier this week.

Authorities did not report the name of the convenience store or where exactly it is located in Gaines County.

A “skimmer” is a device that can collect debit and credit card information which can later be downloaded and used by the criminal.

The Seminole Police Department and the Gaines County Sheriff’s Office are warning the public to be vigilant and to regularly check and see if anything appears to be tampered with or looks out of the ordinary when servicing or using ATM’s or gas pumps.

Also, check your checking and credit accounts regularly for any irregularities.

If anyone has information in this case, you are asked to contact the Seminole Police Department or the Gaines County Sheriff’s Office.
