On Friday, July 22nd, 2016, at approximately 10:50 am, the Slaton Police Department responded to 1470 W. Lynn St., Slaton, Texas, in reference to a deceased person.
The police department discovered the homeowner, Fred Henry Melcher, 74-years-old and Edith Denise Ayers, 55-years-old, both deceased in the home.
A family member contacted the Slaton Police Department after conducting a welfare check on the two residents. The family member made entry into the secured residence where he located the deceased.
This is an ongoing investigation awaiting the autopsies of the deceased.
Slaton Police Department believes this is an isolated incident with no immediate threat to the Slaton community.
